SDR33 Datalogger

Communication with PC

If you can't get the SDR or instrument to download data to a PC, check the following:

If you have (intermittent) communication problems between the SDR33 and the Total Station, the cable attached to the SDR33 is likely faulty. Once you have a new cable, make sure not to squash the cable by inserting the SDR33 head first into the carry pouch.

"Won't switch off"

If you can't switch the SDR33 off (or it looks like it is off but is does not want to warm boot):
Press  ON key for 16 seconds. This'll force the unit to shut down

Program hangs

If the SDR33 locks up and does not respond to any keystrokes anymore, the golden tip (but not secret -it's in the manual) is:

- switch the SDR33 off
- press and hold Func key and also  L key
- press and release ON/OFF key
- now release Func and L key
if the unit does not reboot, try again - timing is everything

Back-up battery low  / dead

The SDR33 uses two 9 Volts block batteries for its normal operation. When these are depleted, the SDR33 is equipped with two lithium batteries (type: 1/3 N) to keep your data alive for a few weeks. Once the lithium batteries are empty you'll see the above error massage. Replace as soon as possible!

SDR8100

Warm Boot
A warm boot will re-start the controller, including a re-start of the serial ports, without erasing any data.
On the SDR8100, you may tap the 'start' button in the bottom left corner of the screen and then select 'Reboot'. Alternatively, press simultaneously both keys marked 'Pg'  on the top of the keyboard and then ALSO press the backlight key (bottom right corner).

Cold Boot
A cold boot will destroy data and reset parameters to their default. In case of the SDR8100, only data in the \application folder will be unharmed as this area is CF card memory. SDR and other software is by default installed in the \application folder so would normally be fine. The cold boot will erase data and programs in all other folders.
Open the battery lid and while holding down the ALT key, use the stylus to press the white reset button on the right hand side of the battery. Re-place battery lid, switch the SDR8100 on and go through the screen alignment procedure.

Jett CE

Keyboard magic
CRTL followed by Esc will bring up the Start button (same as on your desktop!)

In SDR software:
- for 'READ' key, to launch a measurement,  press the ALT key
- for 'OK' key, to accept an entire screen, press CTRL key followed by ENTER key

Warm Boot

Go Start/Programs/Utilities and click on warm boot

Cold Boot

Archer

Hold the On/Off key for 4 seconds to bring up a menu to SUSPEND/ SWITCH OFF

Suspend will turn the display off and place the unit in a sleep state - but it'll still consume a bit of power
Switch Off means power down completely - Like a cold boot, the unit will take half a minute to load the operating system to start from scratch. Use the Switch Off mode for storage.

Mobile Mapper CX

keys simultaneously until the screen goes blank. The MobileMapper

CX switches off. You can then power on the device

by pressing the power button.

Note that using this key combination does not reset the GPS

receiver.
